This webinar will set out the principles against which modern safety critical Instrumentation & Control Systems are developed against, exploring the concepts of Redundancy, Diversity and Equipment Qualification, and applying these to delivery of the UK’s newest nuclear power Station project. 

The architecture necessary to deliver safe, resilient and secure monitoring and control of the Nuclear Reactor and associated systems will be discussed, together with an overview of some of the challenges faced by large and small-scale high-integrity system lifecycles.

Dave Pearson

Chief Instrumentation & Control Engineer - Hinkley Point C

Dave Pearson is Chief Instrumentation & Control Engineer for Hinkley Point C. With 24 years’ experience in the Nuclear Industry, he has successfully led design, implementation and commissioning of some of the UK nuclear fleet’s largest recent control system modernisation and refurbishment projects.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IET he has presented at, and continues to work working with, the International Atomic Energy Authority on key I&C topics and guidance.
