Meet the Engineers- Volume 2: Series 4: Electronic Engineers Talk!!
The purpose of this event is to help young students, school leavers and degree students understand more about engineering like day-to-day jobs and personal experiences. To encourage young students and school leavers to pursue a career in STEM by addressing their concerns is another highlight of this event. Attendees can contact the Events team if they are interested in becoming a speaker.
The event will be an hour-long with two 30-minute speakers, Navdeep Mehay a Chartered engineer who leads the Machine Control & Protection group at UK’s Nuclear Fusion Machine MAST-U at Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire. Navdeep is also a member of the BSI Young Professional Advisory Panel and the STEM ambassadors community. Swetha Thayalsamy a Hardware Testing Engineer at Sky who is responsible for testing and evaluating hardware designs and developing automation tools to improve test efficiency
The panel session will be chaired by Dr Tobi Elusakin who will facilitate the discussion about their careers and invite the audience to contribute to the conversation.

Navdeep Mehay
MAST-U Machine Control and Protection Group Leader
Navdeep leads Machine Control & Protection group at UK’s Nuclear Fusion Machine MAST-U at Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire. After completing his Electronics and Communication Engineering degree in India, he went on to gain experience in the Controls and Instrumentation field in the automation, automotive and power generation industries. Navdeep has represented the UK at the IEC Young Professionals Programme and is a member of the BSI Young Professional Advisory Panel and the STEM ambassadors community.

Swetha Thayalsamy
Hardware Testing Engineer
Swetha Thayalsamy is a Hardware Testing Engineer at Sky. Swetha is responsible for testing and evaluating hardware designs and developing automation tools to improve test efficiency. Currently, she is developing methods to integrate Wi-Fi protocols used in your everyday routers, whilst exercising future electronic capabilities.
From a young age, she has been interested in engineering and eventually competed in the Crest Awards. Since then, Swetha has worked with numerous schools to increase enthusiasm around electronics as Outreach Coordinator with Engineers Without Borders Warwick.
