Sharing of Personal Journey of Pursuing Professional Qualifications

Speaker 1: EUR ING. Ir. Ts. Dr. Lim Wei Hong

Synopsis: 

This sharing session focuses on personal journey of speaker to pursue for professional qualification, specifically the Chartered Engineer qualification, through IET pathway. Speaker will share about the motivations behind of pursuing professional qualification and some useful steps of meeting the competency requirements during the application. Speaker will also briefly share about the potential opportunities of applying other international level professional qualifications after obtaining CEng.

 

Speaker 2: Dr. Mastaneh Mokayef 

Synopsis: 

An engineer should always provide solutions for engineering problems with the up-to-date technologies, innovation, and creativity. In this regard, it is important for an individual to show his/her competence and commitments in providing solutions for the problems with different levels of risk. Hence, an engineer need to have a recognized professional competencies approved by The Engineering Council. Chartered Engineer is a title given to those engineers who could successfully proof their profession ability in this regard. This sharing session will give the audience an overview of a personal journey of pursuing the CEng and sheds the light on the importance of being professional and competent engineer in the world which is full of complex engineering problems and Antenna design.

EUR ING. Ir. Ts. Dr. Lim Wei Hong

Assistant Professor - The Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment in UCSI University

EUR ING. Ir. Ts. Dr. Wei Hong Lim is currently an Assistant Professor and a researcher at the Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment in UCSI University. He obtained his BEng (Hons) Mechatronic Engineering and Ph.D. in Computational Intelligence from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia in the year 2011 and 2014, respectively. Dr. Lim was attached to the Intelligent Control Laboratory in National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan as the Postdoctoral Researcher from 2015 to 2017 and as the Visiting Researcher in 2019. He has published more than 60 research articles in research areas related to computational intelligence, optimization algorithms, energy management, digital image processing and etc. Dr. Lim is now working with three national research grants awarded by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia, and five internal grant projects supported by UCSI University. Apart from serving as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE journal, Dr Lim is also an active reviewer for various reputable journals such as IEEE Access, Complexity, Mathematical Problem in Engineering, Computational Intelligence and Neuroscience and etc. Dr. Lim has actively involved in various professional bodies. To date, he has been awarded with the qualifications of Chartered Engineer (CEng) and International Professional Engineer in UK Section (IntPE(UK)) from UK Engineering Council, Professional Engineer (PEng) from Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM), Professional Technologist (PTech) qualification from Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT) and Senior Membership (SMIEEE) from IEEE. 

 

Dr. Mastaneh Mokayef

Assistant Professor - The Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment (FETBE) in UCSI University, Malaysia

Asst. Prof. Dr. Mastaneh Mokayef is a registered Chartered Engineer. She has received her PhD from Wireless Communication Centre Faculty of Electrical Engineering in University Technology Malaysia (UTM). She has also obtained her master’s degree from the faculty of engineering from the University Technology Malaysia. She is a member of Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) since 2017, She has been working in UCSI University, Malaysia, since 2015 in which she currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment (FETBE). Her research interests include Wireless communications, spectrum sharing methods, spectrum management, cellular communication systems, 5G and Antenna design.
