About

The title of the presentation is "Telecom and software - is it real engineering?". It will cover my experience of building telecom solutions during my 30 year career with real life examples of good and bad practice. I'll discuss key telecom technologies (2G/3G/4G/5G), engineering requirements (capacity, robustness, peak load, cost), strategies for building a telecom network (hardware, software, replication, load sharing), how solutions have evolved over time, and some development philosophies (waterfalls vs agile).

Richard Bodin

Chief Technology Officer - Impactyse

I have a 30+ year career in telecom software development, sales engineering and marketing. After graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in Software Engineering, I worked in the UK, Texas and Canada. Thanks to my French wife, I settled in France in 2000 and I now manage to communicate in French with a terrible British accent (or so my kids tell me). I obtained Chartered Engineer status in 2006 with the IET.
