Telecom and Software - Is it Real Engineering (Physical link)
A presentation and joint networking session by the IET France Local Networks Richard Bodin in partnership with the ICE France Center
About
The title of the presentation is "Telecom and software - is it real engineering?". It will cover my experience of building telecom solutions during my 30 year career with real life examples of good and bad practice. I'll discuss key telecom technologies (2G/3G/4G/5G), engineering requirements (capacity, robustness, peak load, cost), strategies for building a telecom network (hardware, software, replication, load sharing), how solutions have evolved over time, and some development philosophies (waterfalls vs agile).
