About

The Appledore Clean Maritime Innovation Centre, due to open in 2026, will provide a regional focus for clean maritime activities. Funded by £15.6m Levelling Up funding, secured in 2023, the centre will provide a physical focus for regional activity across the clean maritime and green energy sectors. Working in partnership with academia, R&D-focused businesses and government partners to drive decarbonisation for the Celtic Sea and beyond. With opportunities ranging from seaweed to Floating Offshore Wind and linking to The Crown Estate’s 4.5GW leasing round, and linking to existing strengths around manufacturing, engineering and shipbuilding, the centre provides a unique opportunity for local job creation and benefit.

The talk will start at 7:00 in the South West Institute of Technology (SWIoT) building. Prior to the talk starting, from 6:30, there will be the opportunity to have a guided tour of the Centre of Technology & Innovation Excellence (COTIE), which adjoins the SWIoT. COTIE offers shared labs for design prototyping and design spaces, as well as housing a number of project supported by the University of Plymouth.
