The Future of TV: Let's make it personal

Live from the TV Labs at BT's Adastral Park

Ian Kegel and Doug Williams, from BT Applied Research will introduce and demonstrate a vision of the way TV will evolve. Ian and Doug have been working for many years on forms of entertainment and communications that utilise those characteristics of Internet based distribution that are different from those used to distribute traditional TV. These include bi-directionality and that content need not be broadcast in nature. The move away from a purely broadcast mind-set demands new production workflows but enables new, personalised forms of TV entertainment that merge the better aspects of TV with those of good Web content. Standing vainly on the shoulders of giants, Doug and Ian will be pleased to introduce a number of new entertainment experiences based on Sport, Drama, and Education that are all personal. They’ll also introduce a new phrase, ‘Object Based Broadcasting’, that’s used to describe the technological approach that underpins these forms of entertainment.
