About

We are thrilled to invite you to an informative webinar on Tracks from the Past Steered Trains to the Future.

Hong Kong’s railway system is full of interesting history, beginning with the Kowloon-Canton Railway in 1910, linking the city to Mainland China while facilitating trade and mobility. Railway expansion accelerated in the 1970s with the Mass Transit Railway, a modern and high-frequency metro built to relieve congestion and support new town development. Subsequent extensions created today’s integrated MTR network, which spans from business districts, densely populated areas to cross-border regions, serving millions of passengers daily in an efficient manner and underpinning economic growth of the city.

In this webinar, the speaker will share an in-depth narrative of the railway development history in Hong Kong, tracing its evolution from the British colonial era to the present day. It is expected that participants would be able to appreciate the engineering, operational, and historical aspects of Hong Kong’s railway system, to grab the opportunity to gain deeper understanding of the interesting history of Hong Kong’s railway development, and to foster learning, networking, and professional development within the engineering community. Please register your interest at the earliest, as spaces are limited. We look forward to welcoming you to an informative and engaging webinar.
