Webinar: HVDC/FACTS and power system analysis technology for expanding the introduction of renewable energy
In moving towards a Decarbonized Society, renewable energy plays an increasingly important role in the Japanese energy system, as it does in Europe and United States. However, it can cause various problems in power systems, such as harmonics, voltage deviation, and frequency instability.
The Power Electronics equipment applicable to power systems, such as High voltage DC transmission Systems (HVDC) and Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) provides promising technology to solve these problems. Recent progress in HVDC and FACTS technologies to transmit renewable energy, such as that from offshore wind farms will be presented in the lecture meeting.
