What has the UK plc got against ‘employing’ robots?

Despite the UK being one of the top 10 largest global economies, we are behind the European and Global average for what is known as “Robot Density”  - This is a measure of robots installed by 10,000 workers. Why is this? We have a situation where the output per hour worked (our productivity) has only increased around 1% in the last 10 years, yet we are also in one of the highest levels of employment for decades, so we have lots of people in jobs. Germany, France, Italy and even old eastern-bloc countries such as Slovakia are ahead of the UK.

What is preventing the rise of the robots and how can we educate industry and government to adopt a change in work patterns so that we can become a more productive nation!
