What it takes to manage Building Energy Consumption, Head to Toe?
The contribution of buildings to electricity (both residential and commercial) is expected to gradually increase yearly. These increases significantly impact the environment due to the processing of electricity from fossil fuels in heavy-duty power generation plants. Therefore, proper design development and decision making are essential for an engineer to ensure the building's mechanical & electrical systems meet the optimal design criteria. In addition, it is crucial for the building's equipment to operate in a proper manner and maintain its efficiency. This sharing session will give the audience a glimpse on how to achieve the aforesaid from design, construction, testing & commissioning and last but not least maintenance throughout the operational period.

Ir. Cheng is a registered Professional Engineer with practising certificate from Board of Engineer Malaysia and Senior Member of The Institutions of Engineers Malaysia. He has more than 20 years hand-on project experience in the design and construction for hotels, healthcare, shopping malls, high rise commercial office and residential buildings. He is currently the General Manager of UOA Development Berhad. He obtained his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master's degree in the field of Construction Management. He is also a Certified Energy Manager by MAESCO (Malaysia Association of Energy Service Companies) with expertise to perform audits and analyze electrical energy consumption in buildings installation. In addition, Ir. Cheng likes to teach and share his experience with young engineers. He is a Human Resource Development Corporation Certified Trainer.
