“Hello Canada, Hello Canada” - A defining Event in World Communication which took place on 19th March 1919 between Ballybunion and NovaScotia

 

Celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the first spoken word from East to West from the Marconi Radio Station in Ballybunion, Ireland, to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada

The historic event will be recreated at the former site of the Marconi Radio Station, now the Irish College. A series of free talks and demonstrations will be held during the course of the day. The celebrations will culminate, at 4pm,  with the unveiling of a “100 year commemorative plaque” at the  Castle Green, Ballybunion by Princess Elettra Marconi Giovanelli , daughter of Marconi and her son Prince Marconi.
