Garry Lester has had interest in both electronics and optics from an early age.  He obtained a BSc(HONS) in Electronic Computer System and PhD in novel computing architectures from Salford University.  Research work in the Wheatstone Laboratories at King’s College London on Microwave Diffraction and subsequently in the Toshiba Laboratory at the Victoria University of Manchester on Flat Panel LC Displays provided optical experience at a variety of wavelengths.  Having been a Senior Lecturer at Exeter University and a consulting Instrumentation Designer for AgustaWestland he is now working as a consultant applying the electronics and photonic experience through work with a number of companies.  Garry has been a member of the Institution for many years and is now chair of the Devon and Cornwall Local Network.

Details of the allocated room are displayed in the foyer of the Harrison Building.  Parking is available along North Park Road but the campus is very busy if there is an event at the Northcott Theatre or the Great Hall.  Early arrival for evening events is advised.
