Mountbatten intro image  The RAF celebrated its centenary in April 2018 confirming its status as the oldest independent air force in the world.

IET EngTalks teamed up with the RAF 100 campaign to provide this exciting and informative free to attend evening event.

Air Marshal Julian Young provided insight as to why the Royal Air Force is often cited as being one of the most technologically advanced military forces globally. He jumped forward another 100 years and explored the technologies that he believes are certainties as well as some that are fantastical but by no means impossible!

He gave an overview of some of the current engineering challenges and those still to be overcome. None more so than the ‘human dimension’ – how will people fit into an RAF filled with AI, robotics, autonomy and fast paced concept to service technology?

Air Marshal Young was supported by our Insight Speaker, Dr. Julia Sutcliffe Head of Engineering - Training Services, BAE Systems – Air and the event was hosted by Wing Commander Sarah Maskell MBE FCMI | SO1 Diversity & Inclusion, RAF
