MPG: Protective device selectivity in low voltage distribution systems

The requirement to achieve selectivity between the various tiers of protective devices where critical loads form part of the distribution system is well known. However, the fundamental principles are sometimes misunderstood with too much reliance placed on computer simulation.

This informative lecture will examine differing device technologies and review the process of assessing selectivity, including unique situations likely to be encountered by the electrical engineer.
