What is Resolution for the Human listener
Time, Triangles, B-splines, Pre-emphasis and Efficiency
The music supply chain, archives and high-resolution 'lossy'
Each topic will be illustrated by instructive video and sound demonstrations.
Bob will close with some pointers to near and future developments that can/will advance and rekindle a pioneering adventure in audio engineering.

Keith Howard
Freelance Audio Journalist - Retired
Keith was a hi-fi journalist for 45 years from 1977 to 2022, specialising in writing features about audio technology. He edited Hi-Fi Answers for almost nine years in the 1980s after which, as a freelance, he contributed principally to Audiophile, Gramophone, Hi-Fi News, Stereophile (in the US) and HIFICRITIC.
For 20 years he also had a parallel career as an automotive journalist, writing mostly technical articles for Autocar, Motor Sport, Racecar Engineering and Automotive Design.
A past chair of the AES UK Section, Keith has documented and analysed innovations in the field of high-quality audio across four decades, his work often exploring the intersection of technical performance and subjective listening experience.
Bob Stuart
Mentor,Researcher Consultant (Independent) - Consultant
A lifelong passion for psychoacoustics and the neuroscience of hearing underpinned Bob’s career. His work modelling auditory resolution, detectability and loudness supported many subsequent developments. For this, in 1996, he was awarded Fellowship of the AES.
A co-founder of Meridian Audio, Bob designed the first audiophile CD players, converters and processors. He pioneered the development of the digital active loudspeaker, demonstrating holistic integration of acoustic, analogue and digital signal engineering.
