Bursary and scholarship evening - Barrow-in-Furness

At an annual event organised by Barrow & District Association of Engineers (BDAE), Darren Cavan, CEO Oxley Developments will speak at Town Hall, Barrow, after presenting this year’s Student Bursary Awards. Darren plans to cover his journey; born and raised on Walney and his career from apprentice to CEO, then go on to cover some of the technical work Oxley is doing in electronics, night vision and high specification LED lighting for aerospace and defence platforms across the world.
The lecture will be preceded by an overview of the BDAE Bursary Awards Scheme and awards to successful technical apprentices and sixth form students from local schools and Furness College for their achievements in studying engineering related subject. [Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics. STEM].
There will also be a special award to the winners of the “Engineering Design Engineering Technology Competition” that recognises the delivery of engineering design and associated practical skills within our Secondary Schools. This year the value of the awards made to local students will total over £7,000.
