Tech Talk 1: Digital Maintenance: Driving Asset Availability and Reliability Growth
Abstract:
Digital technologies are transforming the way railway assets are maintained and operated. This presentation explores how digital maintenance solutions, automated inspection systems, condition-based monitoring, and AI-enhanced predictive maintenance can significantly improve asset availability, reliability, and lifecycle performance. Drawing on practical railway applications, it demonstrates how the digitalisation of maintenance processes and the effective use of operational and condition data enable earlier fault detection, optimised maintenance interventions, and reduced operational disruptions. The session will also discuss the challenges and future opportunities of leveraging data analytics, real-time monitoring, and artificial intelligence to move towards increasingly autonomous and prescriptive maintenance strategies.

Tech Talk 2: Digital Audit, Compliance & Performance Monitoring in Rail Operations
Abstract:
Rail is one of the most heavily audited categories of critical infrastructure: safety, regulatory, vendor, cybersecurity, and financial reviews all run in parallel, each with its own owner, evidence trail, and retention rule. This talk connects two sides of that reality. First, the governance side — how structured, sovereignty-aware audit infrastructure closes the gap between scattered evidence and defensible compliance. Second, the field side — real, in-service examples of continuous performance and structural-health monitoring on bridges, track, switches, rolling stock, and driverless systems, drawn from operators including Eurotunnel, DB Netze, ÖBB, MTR, Alstom, and Keolis. Together, they show that audit-readiness is not a paperwork exercise — it is built into how the asset is measured, monitored, and evidenced every single day.
