"Direct Generation - Using soft robotics technology to harvest wave energy"

About

"Direct generation" is a potentially revolutionary change to how electricity can be generated from the sea. Innovators 4c Engineering have identified a generation technology with the potential to remove the need for gearboxes, bearings and most of the large rigid structures traditionally used in wave energy converters (WECs). By replacing these components with mass producible,  compliant Dielectric Fluid Generators (DFGs) there is the potential for a significant reduction in the cost of WECs along with improving redundancy by minimising single points of failure.
