About

The event aims to provide insights on how an engineer embraces the advancements of various technologies, in particular artificial intelligence (AI). The first speaker, Colin Koh, will provide an overview on technological advancement such as AI, internet of things, cybersecurity and robotics, and discuss how these advancement accelerates the growth of the industries. However, this growing disruptive technology bring concerns to engineers, as their jobs could be replaced by machines. Hence, Colin will offer tips for engineers to take this as an opportunity by embracing reskilling, relearning and adaptation to stay competitive in this dynamic environment, instead of worrying about job displacement. Next, the second speaker, Tom Zacharski, will share an easy and fast way to develop things using existing AI tool. Tom will focus on practical applications of generative AI, which will be demonstrated through live demos of coding and on-the-fly building of simple sites / apps with Cursor. This lowers the barrier for people who has less experience in coding, and shorten the development time.

Tech Talk 1:

Title: The Fast Development of Technologies and Its Impact on the Future of Work presented by Colin Koh

Synopsis:
In recent years, we have witnessed rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, and robotics, which showcase a remarkable trend of accelerating innovation and growing interconnectivity. As these technologies continually evolve and converge, they are set to revolutionize industries, opening up new opportunities and posing unique challenges, such as job displacement.

Working adults must embrace reskilling and lifelong learning to navigate this transformative landscape. By adopting these proactive approaches, individuals can better prepare for the future workforce, ensuring they remain competitive and adaptable in this dynamic environment. Additionally, thoughtful implementation and governance of these technologies will be crucial in shaping a positive future of work.

Join us as we explore the implications of these technological advancements and discuss strategies to thrive in the era of AI!

Tech Talk 2:

Title: Vibe Coding and Practical Applications of AI presented by Tom Zacharski

Synopsis:
The talk is about practical applications of generative artificial intelligent (AI), which will be demonstrated through live demos of coding and on-the-fly building of simple sites / apps with Cursor. People might be intimidated by code, however, one should be coding highly customized things that come in handy with AI and while it helps to know how to code, it is not necessary.
