Empowering Grid Connections through Data
How is Data enabling the Clean Energy Transition and accelerating Net Zero?
About
As the energy system continues to decarbonise and decentralise, access to timely, transparent, and standardised data is becoming increasingly important for developers, innovators, and system planners. Electricity network operators are responding to this demand by improving the visibility and accessibility of network information and Northern Powergrid (NPg) is at the forefront of this data-driven transformation.
This IET-hosted webinar will explore how NPg is enabling open access to network data, with a particular focus on its Open Data Portal, the evolving Long Term Development Statement (LTDS), and the introduction of the Common Information Model (CIM), a new industry standard that will define how network data is structured and shared in the future.
This event offers an important opportunity to understand how electricity network data is evolving to support a smarter, more open, and more collaborative energy system. As the industry shifts towards greater transparency and interoperability, the role of open data and common standards becomes central to enabling innovation, accelerating low-carbon investment, and improving system planning.
NPg is playing a leading role in this transition by making key datasets more accessible and aligning with national initiatives like the Common Information Model (CIM). The session will provide valuable insight into how these changes are shaping the future of network data, what this means for stakeholders across the sector, and why engaging with these tools and platforms is increasingly vital.
