Dr Mark Scibor-Rylski

High Technology Venture Capitalist

Mark is a high technology venture capitalist with industrial, financial, scientific, and engineering skills, focusing on supporting new technology businesses. 


He has worked at BAC, Xerox, the Kaye Organisation, Prutec, Charterhouse, managed Central European privatisations, and worked with the University of Exeter to create start-ups and build bridges to companies. Mark has raised and managed hands-on early-stage venture funds, investing in the UK, Europe and the US. 


He now specialises in derisking early-stage investments and developing ways of accelerating growth, partnerships and exits for innovation-led companies. 


He is a director of several technology companies, a graduate of Imperial College and City University, a Chartered Engineer and Physicist and is on the Committees of the IET’s Management of Innovation Technical Network and the IoP’s Business and Innovation Growth Group

Marty Reid

Executive Director - SETsquared Partnership

Marty Reid is the Executive Director of the SETsquared Partnership, the enterprise collaboration of the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey. Since 2002, SETsquared has supported over 5,000 entrepreneurs to raise over £5bn investment.
 
Established as a leader in the development and scaling of programmes to support innovation and entrepreneurial talent, Marty previously led Engine Shed, the University of Bristol’s award-winning enterprise hub and the Future Space innovation centre at the University of West of England.
 
Prior to this, Marty had a diverse international career working in industry innovation and technology, spending over ten years at Rolls-Royce in roles spanning strategy, global account management and service delivery.
