Engineering Management hosted by IET Singapore Network

About

In alignment of the strategic themes of IET Strategy 2030, the event aims to expose engineers to engineering management, an interdisciplinary skillset that combines the technological problem-solving ability of engineering with the organizational, leadership, and planning abilities of management to optimize operational performance in engineering-driven organizations. This skill is particularly valuable for engineers aspiring to leadership roles. Michel, the first speaker, will discuss how an engineering mindset can be applied to business management, sharing his experience as a manufacturing engineer and manufacturing lead in the production of the Airbus A380, and explaining how the principles of engineering project management can extend to managing an organization. Beyond technical expertise, effective businesses require strong marketing strategies to stand out. Roy, the second speaker, will provide insights into how lead engineers can leverage marketing skills to present their products and emphasize differentiation. Finally, Michel will address leadership development, demonstrating how a strong team culture is cultivated through techniques such as gamification, skill development, and fostering a collaborative work environment. The audience will gain valuable perspectives on how engineering leadership can shape both organizational success and career growth.
