Female Leaders in Engineering: Inspiring the Next Generation

Krystina Pearson-Rampeearee is a multi-award winning chartered Aerospace Engineer and STEM advocate who makes engineering related content for social media (@aviateher) and started her own small business, AviateHer, creating badges showcasing diversity in STEM careers. She studied Aerospace Systems Engineering at the University of the West of England and became the first engineer in her family. Krystina has overcome many challenges on her engineering journey. As a result, she is very passionate about volunteering, mentoring and promoting careers in STEM to young people.

Titi is a Chartered Engineer with a background in chemical engineering and 12 years of experience in safety engineering and risk management for major projects in the energy, transport infrastructure and green hydrogen industries. She is currently a senior consultant, providing technical solutions to optimise value on global energy projects. 

She is also passionate about encouraging career excellence, demystifying and championing inclusion in the engineering profession. She sits on the board of the Association for Black and Minority Engineers in the UK, various committees and judging panels with the IET. She is also an Industrial Advisory Board member for Brunel University’s Engineering Department. 

She has received awards such as the 2023 IET Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award and the Women’s Engineering Society’s Top 50 Women in Engineering award.

Dilani Selvanathan is a Senior Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman UK and Chair of the IET London Young Professionals Network.

Dilani began her engineering journey through a Software Engineering Degree Apprenticeship with the BBC, supported by the IET Horizons Bursaries (now known as Future Talent Awards). Since then, she has built a diverse career across software engineering, robotics, research and development, space engineering, and defence technology.

She is passionate about using engineering to solve real-world problems and has experience working across legacy system modernisation, user interface development, robotics and autonomous systems. Her wider interests include space, STEM outreach, emerging technologies, accessibility, neurodiversity, and inspiring the next generation of engineers.

Dilani has been actively involved with the IET for several years, taking part in volunteering, judging First LEGO League competitions, delivering presentations, contributing to case studies, and supporting events that connect engineers across industry and academia. She has achieved Engineering Technician status through the IET and Engineering Council and is currently working towards Chartered Engineer status.

Her achievements include receiving the IET Paul Fletcher Award, the Inspiring STEM Technician Award, and the IET Mary George Memorial Prize for Apprentices at the Young Woman Engineer of the Year Awards.

As Chair of the IET London Young Professionals Network, Dilani is committed to creating opportunities for students, apprentices, graduates and early-career professionals to build confidence, grow their networks, develop new skills and feel part of the wider engineering community.

Arrmeila studied Integrated Engineering at Cardiff University, where she worked at Network Rail as a Railway Signalling Engineer and published an academic paper on her undergraduate dissertation. Since graduating in 2021, she has completed the Network Rail graduate scheme training in the railway signalling discipline. She now works for Heathrow as a Senior Engineer in Rail Control Systems & Signalling, working on the airport tracked transit system, and the passenger transit system - Heathrow pods.
