From Idea to Impact – Designing AI Systems that Works, Scales and Deliver hosted by YPS IET Singapore Local Network
About
Presentation 1: Making Tech Stick: How to Design Processes for Real Digital Transformation
Speaker: Dorcas Chang
Synopsis: The barrier to building new technology has lowered significantly. With the help of AI, it has become much easier to map out an idea and spin up a functional, cloud-backed prototype in just a weekend—even without a formal computer science background. However, while creating an initial prototype is faster than ever, turning those ideas into stable, long-term value for an organization requires a different level of strategy.
The speaker will begin by demonstrating a live AI application built over a weekend, sharing how a non-software engineer can leverage modern tools to connect databases, API guardrails, and cloud infrastructure. The session will then step back to look at the broader organizational picture, exploring the common growing pains teams face during rapid digital adoption—such as maintaining a surplus of dashboards that stakeholders rarely use, or simply layering AI onto existing, fragmented processes.
Finally, the talk will offer a practical framework for achieving sustained digital transformation. The session will cover how to closely tie data to operational business decisions, how to design daily workflows so that clean data is captured naturally, and how to build adaptable systems that evolve alongside fast-changing AI tools. Attendees will leave with a realistic perspective on how to look past the immediate tech hype and use systems thinking to build workflows that last.
Presentation 2: From Prototype to Production: Building Reliable Agentic AI Systems
Speaker: Joven Lee
Synopsis: The speaker will begin with an overview of how agentic AI differs from conventional generative AI, moving from single-turn responses to autonomous systems that plan, reason, and act across multiple steps. He will then walk through how Cookiy AI was built: first as an agentic customer intelligence platform that conducts AI-guided interviews and synthesises insights in real time, and then as a broader platform that empowers non-technical teams to build and deploy their own AI agents with no engineering background required. The session will cover the technical architecture behind Cookiy AI, including how agents are orchestrated, how memory and context are managed across long conversations, and how the system is designed to be reliable in production. The speaker will share the key engineering decisions, failure modes encountered, and lessons learned from shipping agentic AI with real customers. Attendees will leave with both a grounded understanding of how production agentic systems are built, and a glimpse of how the next wave of AI adoption will be driven not just by engineers, but by the teams they empower.
