GB’s Electricity Grid – how to keep the lights on!
About
The IET Scotland Power Technical Network (PTN) would like to invite you to come along and meet one of the industry’s experts on the electricity grid operation, and the challenges it presents. This event will also offer you the chance to meet your peers within the industry.
IET PTN Scotland is excited to introduce Milorad Dobrijevic to share his thoughts on the immense challenges faced by UK grid infrastructure as we try and meet GB CP2030 targets.
Overview of Session:
· Grid System Security as we deliver the NESO Clean Power 2030 requirements.
· Frequency & Voltage Control – the importance of equilibrium
· Power System Stability
· What is synchronising torque & Damping torque
· Sub Synchronous Oscillations
· Synchronous / Asynchronous Generation – the difference
· Importance of Generation Theory and Network Impedance in understanding Network Behaviour.
As part of the event representatives of IET will be present to offer help and assistance on professional development and membership. We aim to reconnect with our members, introduce new members and engineering professionals to our professional body, and to form bonds and share experiences.
Local IET networks are the heartbeat of our engineering community, and we hope that you can join us in person. We look forward to meeting you at this thought-provoking event.
