Geological Disposal Facility (Barrow-in-Furness)
About
A permanent storage facility for nuclear waste has long been required. Ideally this would be underground and a site near Sellafield and under Cumbria and the Irish Sea had been proposed. This made sense as much of the waste was at Sellafield and, if SMRs were built, fuel reprocessing could be required.
