Hybrid seminar: Contrasting signalling project implementation
Organized by Railway and Transport Section of IET Hong Kong
About
Signalling systems have rapidly evolved into advanced communication-based train control technologies, with a handful of major suppliers now dominating the global market. Yet, the methodologies for implementing these systems can differ greatly, shaped by local market conditions, customer requirements, and regulatory frameworks. This seminar offers a comparative exploration of signalling project implementation in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, providing attendees with valuable insights into how similar technologies are tailored to meet distinct operational and regulatory needs.
Our distinguished speakers bring a wealth of international and local experience:
Daniel Duan, Senior Project Engineer at Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), is a chartered engineer with over a decade of experience in the signalling industry. Daniel has played a key role in projects such as the extension of the Automatic People Mover (APM) signalling system and the new APM system supporting the Third Runway project at AAHK.
Ken Chan, Command and Control Systems Director at Tilt Consulting, is a chartered engineer with more than 16 years of international rail industry experience. Ken has contributed to major rail infrastructure projects across the UK, Canada, Sweden, and Norway, overseeing the deployment of new rolling stock and signalling systems on both brownfield and greenfield networks throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Join us to gain practical perspectives on the challenges and solutions in signalling project implementation, and to understand how industry leaders adapt technology to diverse environments.
