IET–INCOSE Technical Series 2026: Engineering Autonomy and Systems Excellence
Joint-event: Technical Talk 1 – Advancements in Systems Engineering Technical; Talk 2 – Autonomous Mobile Robots for Flexible Manufacturing: Bridging the Lab and the Factory Floor
About
Technical Talk 1 – Advancements in Systems Engineering
Speaker: Mr Robert Ong, President – INCOSE Singapore Chapter
Foundations and Advancements explores the discipline’s role in designing, integrating, and managing complex systems across industries such as aerospace, defense, healthcare, and information technology. Participants will gain insights into the holistic approach of systems engineering, which emphasizes lifecycle management, requirements analysis, risk assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The session will highlight how systems engineering bridges technical and organizational domains to ensure efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in modern projects.
Recent advancements in systems engineering, such as model-based systems engineering (MBSE), digital twins, artificial intelligence integration, and agile methodologies—will be discussed to showcase how the field is evolving to meet contemporary challenges. Attendees will learn how these innovations enhance decision-making, improve system validation, and accelerate development cycles. The seminar will also emphasize the growing importance of systems engineering in addressing global issues like smart infrastructure, autonomous systems, and sustainability.
Technical Talk 2 - Autonomous Mobile Robots for Flexible Manufacturing: Bridging the Lab and the Factory Floor
Speaker: Mr Cheng Chia Loon, Senior System Architect, Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore
Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) are transforming flexible manufacturing by enabling intelligent material transport, adaptive task execution, and seamless human-robot collaboration. This seminar presents applied research advancing AMR perception, navigation, and decision-making in dynamic industrial settings. Emphasis is placed on bridging simulation and real-world deployment, highlighting challenges such as localization in cluttered environments, sensor fusion, and fleet coordination. Case studies from pilot projects in automotive and electronics sectors illustrate the transition from laboratory innovation to factory-scale implementation. Insights into system integration, human factors, and commercialization pathways offer a comprehensive view of how AMRs are re-shaping smart manufacturing eco-systems.
