IET Malaysia Northern Region Get Together – Professional Workshop Day in collaboration with British Council

About

The aim of this event is to gather all the IET members, Young Professionals and On Campus from Northern part of Malaysia for professional workshop & networking.

Tech Talk:
Effective Communications for Engineers/Professionals in Era of AI

Societal Challenges:
Engineering Excellence and Societal Challenges in Digital Futures

The talk aims to create a heightened awareness of the difference between 'Hard' Engineering skills which help us get our jobs through academic qualifications versus 'Soft'(Human-Power)skills, which help us keep our jobs and get promoted. These skills are identified within the context of relationship building and communication through Visual, Vocal and Verbal skills. The rich and relevant offering of courses that we at the British Council have under Written and Spoken Professional Skills will be shared. Participants will be invited to carry out one activity from our Technical Writing course. The learning objective is to understand your readers and describe technical processes and jargon to non-technical people so that they can make better informed decisions.

Moderator:
Christopher Tan, Keysight Technologies, R&D Engineer

Christopher is the 2018 Asia Pacific Winner of IET Present Around the World (Top 5 in the world), recognized by the Minister of Science, Malaysia. Apart from being an R&D Engineer at Keysight Technologies, he has been actively involved in a multitude of activities to empower STEM among undergraduates. He currently hosts Present Like a Pro, a training session focused on imparting skills for delivering impactful presentations.
