Identification and Control of movement of priceless heritage assets from Parliament
IET Ottawa Annual Meeting
About
When the present renovation project of the Houses of Parliament commenced in 2018, the contractors realized that a system was required to trace the artefacts in the buildings and the components of the buildings when they were removed for storage and then replacement.
John Rivenell worked with PSPC (Public Service Procurement Canada) to define the processes to be used. He will describe why barcoding was used instead of RFID to identify each component to be moved. There will also be a demonstration of the equipment used to read the barcodes and describe the present process being used to trace components.
