IET Singapore – Hong Kong Networking Technical Seminar

1. Navigating the Digital Landscape of Tele-radiology: Network Infrastructure, Data Protection, and Cybersecurity 2. Application of Gamification using Virtual Reality to Enhance Elderly Rehabilitation

About

IET Singapore Network is hosting a Technical Networking Seminar in collaboration with delegates from the IET Hong Kong Network. This event provides an opportunity to engage in insightful technical discussions, exchange ideas, and expand professional networks.

We invite you to join us as we delve into two cutting-edge topics presented by four distinguished speakers:

     1.    Navigating the Digital Landscape of Tele-radiology: Network Infrastructure, Data Protection, and Cybersecurity by Dr. Kevin Hung, Dr. Shirley Chen and Mr. Harry Lai
     2.    Application of Gamification using Virtual Reality to Enhance Elderly Rehabilitation by Dr. Jaichandar Kulandaidaasan Sheba

The session will be moderated by Er Tan Teck Lee, Chairman of IET Singapore Network.

Synopsis

1.    Navigating the Digital Landscape of Tele-radiology: Network Infrastructure, Data Protection, and Cybersecurity

This talk will delve into the intricate world of tele-radiology, its associated network infrastructure, and the critical cybersecurity issues that surround it. The discussion will commence with a historical overview of telehealth and tele-radiology, tracing their evolution and highlighting their transformative impact on healthcare delivery. The talk will then explore the various types of medical imaging modalities, elucidating their unique features and applications. A significant portion of the talk will be dedicated to the advances in information and communication technologies, which have revolutionized the way medical images are stored, retrieved, and shared, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery. The talk will also delve into the network infrastructure that supports hospitals and clinics, discussing its design, implementation, and management. The final part of the talk will address the pressing issue of network infrastructure and data protection. It will cover the current standards and regulations, emerging trends, and real-world case studies, providing an overall understanding of the cybersecurity landscape.

2.    Application of Gamification using Virtual Reality to Enhance Elderly Rehabilitation

This project by Singapore Polytechnic, in partnership with an elder care center in Singapore, has successfully developed an innovative and cost-effective portable system for rehabilitation therapy. The system leverages immersive virtual reality to create engaging therapeutic environments, enhancing the interactivity and effectiveness of the rehabilitation process. It also includes an advanced functional system that simulates various therapeutic scenarios, allowing patients to practice and improve their motor skills in a controlled environment. During the seminar, the team will demonstrate their Virtual Reality Gamification Project, showcasing its application in enhancing elderly rehabilitation.
