IET Singapore Professional Registration and Fellowship Sharing 2026
About
This event gives an overview on the professional registration process with the IET and the UK-SPECS requirements. It will mainly cover various professional registration categories, the broad requirements as well as available resources on IET website (e.g. Career Manager).
Next, a panel discussion followed by a Q&A will take place, where we invite international professional registration advisors (IPRAs) who are now based in Singapore on stage to provide their insights on questions related to IET professional registration and fellowships. Currently we have 2 IPRAs joining as the panellists: Er. Richard Fong, and Dr. Chandana Gajanayake.

Er. Richard Fong, FIET, CEng
IPRA
Er. Richard Fong is a retired telecommunications engineer who was appointed as the IEE International Membership Advisor in 2003. This role was later converted to International Professional Registration Advisor when IEE became IET in 2006. Throughout his career, Richard has actively mentored graduate engineers in their professional development and served on numerous Chartered Engineer interview panels. Thus, he possesses a wealth of experience in guiding individuals through the Professional Registration process and providing valuable insights to help you prepare for your interview session.
Chandana Gajanayake, Ph.D., SMIEEE, CEng, FIET
Senior Manager at Liteon Singapore
Dr Chandana Gajanayake is a specialist in power electronics and currently serves as a Senior Manager at Liteon Singapore, where he leads data center power conversion system design. Prior to this role, he spent 14 years leading aerospace electrification R&D at Rolls-Royce Singapore. During his tenure at Rolls-Royce, he made significant contributions to global demonstrator programs and was one of the top inventors at the RR Singapore, accumulating over 100 inventions, including 50 granted patents. Actively involved in the professional community, he served on the IET Singapore Committee from 2020 to 2025 and currently serves as an IET Professional Registration Advisor.
