IET Switzerland - Skyguide Visit
About
We have been invited by skyguide on a tour of the skyguide Area Control Centre (ACC) facilities and Tower Simulator (TOSIM) in Dübendorf, Switzerland.
Skyguide is the provider of Air Navigation Services (ANSP) for Switzerland and some of the bordering states’ national airspace. It is a layered airspace service structure consisting of enroute overflying aircraft, approach sectors for airports, and Control Towers at the airports at themselves
The ACC control room is the place where the controllers sit, speak to pilots to coordinate flights in the layered airspace structure. In addition, they also coordinate with other services, such as meteorological, emergency services, diplomatic and more.
The aircraft are handed over from Approach sectors, via the ground to air communications, to the Tower – traditionally situated at the associated airport. We will be visiting the tower simulator – which is a very accurate representation of the actual towers and their ATC personnel. The Tower simulator is a training and testing facility aiding the qualification of controller personnel.
The tour will be hosted by skyguide, with invitees assigned to groups as required.
The maximum number of participants is limited to 15, so the earlier you register for the event the better your chances of participation.
In the event that you have registered and find you can’t make it, the Tool will keep the maximum to 15 with a waiting list, also in the order of registration. It is therefore of the utmost importance that you cancel if you find you are unable to attend.
