Ir. Dr. Tom Ngui CEng

Sabah Regional Representative of IET Malaysia Network

Dr Ngui is the Principal Consultant of the award-winning Eramaju Synergy and a Distinguished Fellow (Professor) at Universiti Malaysia Sabah’s Faculty of Engineering. Over three decades he has led civil, geotechnical, structural, water and marine projects exceeding RM6 billion, delivering sustainable, technically rigorous solutions. A Fellow of ICE, IEM, ASCE, IET, IEAust and GeolSoc, and Chair of the IET Malaysia Network in Sabah, He helps to shape regional policy on science, technology and education. His commitment to innovation is reflected in a patent family for domestic and industrial water-valve technology and service on the Standards Malaysia Working Group. In 2025, he was nominated for the National Engineering Icon (Tokoh Kejuruteraan Negara) award.

Ts. Dr. John Tan CEng

Chairman of IET Malaysia Network

Currently Dr Tan is working as Penang Advanced Packaging Engineering Group Leader at Intel Malaysia. He graduated my PhD in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Queen's University Belfast, UK in year 2014. He is a Chartered Engineer (IET UK). He has also accumulated >10 years of industrial experience in the area of semiconductor fabrication technology. Throughout his academic and industrial experiences, he has developed strong skills and knowledge in MEMS pressure sensor, semiconductor wafer lab fabrication, COMSOL Multiphysics, Microwave, Microsoft Excel and Project Management and visited to various vendor sites in Silicon Valley, US; Eindhoven, Netherlands; Bremen, Germany.

Also, John has been volunteering in the IET Volunteer Support Working Party (VSWP) since 2021. He had been Executive Committee of the IET’s Internet of Things Technical and Professional Network (TPN) for 3 years, and was the main committee member in IET Young Professional Section YPS (Malaysia) from 2014 – 2019.
