Managing Difficult Communications - IET Bucks LN Local:SKILLS; High Wycombe
A Local:SKILLS Workshop on Managing Difficult Communications led by Eddie Maguire
About
Everyone has times when they need to deliver bad news to customers, bosses or colleagues. Common examples include:
• Project delays
• Technical performance not where it needs to be
• Budget overruns
• Dealing with poor performance
• Setting project timescales and budgets
This fun and practical workshop is based on our “What they don’t teach you at Business School” masterclasses. It focusses on the best way to deliver difficult messages so that they are heard. We’ll look at the subtle factors that collectively mean the difference between success and failure. Come along and learn how to make sure a difficult message is understood clearly, minimise conflict and avoid “shooting the messenger” syndrome. The content will cover the process of managing the conversation, room / space setup, the language to use, body language and voice patterns.
Participants should leave understanding the best way to manage difficult conversations and with increased confidence in their ability to navigate these in their work environment.
Eddie Maguire is a Fellow of the IET, has managed R&D, Programme Delivery and Professional Services in some of the biggest UK and global companies. Today he is a Director of ChangeWave, a company that transforms teams and individuals' performance in the workplace.
