Managing Technical Safety

Protecting people, the environment and reputations

About

Legal requirements across the globe require us to manage the PERSONAL SAFETY of ourselves and others AND the TECHNICAL SAFETY of the assets we support (in design, operations, maintenance & decommissioning). By robustly managing Technical Safety, we seek to minimise the chances of an asset causing ‘harm’ (to people, the environment or commercially) throughout its lifecycle.

The lecture will introduce a concise framework for managing TECHNICAL SAFETY which also helps facilitate Reliable, Available & Maintainable (RAM) assets … so win-win?

Key points to discuss will include:

Defining Technical (Asset) Safety

Legal Aspects

Learning from Experience – Some Technical Safety Incidents

Technical Safety Tools
