About

The NESO's Electricity National Control Centre (ENCC) is GB’s centralised hub for electricity system operation. Its role is to move electricity around the country from where it’s generated to where it’s needed.

Our engineers work 24/7 to ensure demand and supply are always in balance. We monitor the electricity system in real-time, intervening when needed to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Every day, NESO experts at the Electricity National Control Centre (ENCC) work around the clock to balance supply and demand, make decisions on who provides electricity at any given time and collaborate with network operators across the system.

ENCC look 24 hours ahead to make sure we have accurate, constant forecasts and responses to consumer demand. Our teams work on shift patterns with timescales roughly broken into 24-hour, 12-hour and 4-hour intervals.

Come and join us, and you can find out more!
