Pathways to the Decarbonisation of Aviation
About
It is presently difficult to see how aviation will become completely de-carbonised on any sort of near-term timescale. However and as is often the case in engineering, there are likely to be a progression of small technology steps forward which will eventually realise a valuable overall benefit. Technologies yet to be identified are also likely to contribute to this. The event will consider the various current developments on aircraft powered by Sustainable Aviation Fuel, Hydrogen and Hybrid and All-Electric Propulsion systems and how they can contribute to declared targets on aircraft emissions and noise. Potential technical and operational barriers will be identified, and how next steps may develop. A holistic approach also needed considering not just the air vehicle, but also issues like supporting ground-based systems and passenger and load management.
