Physical Testing - Is It Still Relevant in a Model Based Systems Engineering Workflow? (Preston)

Model Based Systems Engineering

About

As Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) becomes increasingly embedded in modern engineering workflows, simulation and virtual modelling are transforming how we design, verify, and validate complex systems. But does this shift mean physical testing is becoming obsolete? This talk explores the evolving relationship between physical testing and MBSE, examining where traditional hands-on validation still adds critical value, how digital and physical approaches can complement rather than compete with one another, and what the future balance between the two might look like as modelling tools continue to advance. Whether you’re a seasoned physical test engineer or working primarily in digital environments, this talk will offer fresh perspective on where testing philosophy is heading.
