Point to Point Microwave Radio Systems

About

Point to point microwave radio systems have been in operation since the 1940s however in today’s world of fibre and satellite communications these fixed radio links often go unmentioned, despite their significant usage. This talk will explore the evolution of fixed radio links and how today’s modern point to point microwave and millimetre wave radios provide cost-effective connectivity with capacities ranging from 100Mbps to 20Gbps. Research into new millimetre wave frequency bands will deliver radios with 100Gbps of capacity over link lengths of some hundreds of metres. Traditional microwave radio systems continue to evolve too, with ever higher capacities being possible, along with link lengths which can exceed 50km.
