Professional Registration Programme
IET Hong Kong
About
The programme will commence with a comprehensive Introductory Workshop, providing participants with an overview of the IET professional registration process, as well as the programme objectives, expectations and key milestones. Participants will also receive guidance on the main application requirements, including competency assessment, preparation of the application and competence report, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) records, and preparation for the Professional Review Interview.
Throughout the programme, participants will attend a series of seminars and practical workshops covering technical writing, competence evidence development, report preparation, CPD planning and strategies for succeeding in the Professional Review Interview. Experienced Chartered Engineers, including Professional Registration Advisers (PRAs) and Professional Review Interviewers, will be invited as guest speakers to share practical insights, common application issues and interview preparation advice.
A Mock Interview will be arranged during the later stage of the programme. It will simulate the format and conditions of the IET Professional Review Interview, allowing participants to practise presenting their experience, responding to competence-based questions and demonstrating their professional judgement. Following the mock interview, participants will receive constructive feedback on their technical responses, communication skills, professional conduct and areas for further improvement.
In addition to the group sessions, each participant will be assigned an experienced Chartered Engineer adviser. Through individual coaching sessions, participants will be able to review their progress, discuss competence gaps, obtain feedback on application and report drafts, and receive personalised guidance in preparation for both the mock interview and the final Professional Review Interview.
Upon completion of the programme, participants should have developed a well-structured professional registration application, strengthened their understanding of the required CEng competences and gained practical interview experience. They will therefore be better equipped to navigate the IET professional registration process and work towards achieving Chartered Engineer status.
