About

Exemplary case study regarding the conversion of a conventional ballasted track to slab track in conjunction with the renovation of an existing railway tunnel (Berguenerstein Tunnel in Switzerland).

Many of the historical alpine railway tunnels built in the early 20th century in Switzerland do not conform to state-of-the-art requirements and are gradually being renovated to ensure the required envelopes/clearances and ballast depths and facilitate the installation of an OLE system.

Due to customer requirements, extensive renovation work had to be carried out during railway operation and during operation downtimes at night. A wide range of innovative solutions had to be used to successfully complete this project on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of the customer and railway users.

Speaker: Torsten Bode, Head of Group Products & Innovation. RSRG
