Satellite Applications Catapult: Comms on the Move Electronically Steerable Antenna Test (CESAT) Facility
About
The Satellite Applications Catapult CESAT facility is now in development and will provide a unique global resource based at Westcott. It will place the next generation of satcom terminals under full environmental test, simulating movement and vibration for airborne, land vehicular and maritime applications, combined with novel electromagnetic testing to simulate multiple LEO satellites in a constellation. Using a laboratory environment ensures results can be verified without the expense and complexity of using in-orbit satellites.
The development of this test and measurement facility includes exciting work on high frequency realtime antenna measurments, complex signal processing and vechicle motion emulation on a motion platform.
Speakers from the CESAT facility will cover the following topics on this webinar:
Electronically steerable phased array antennas.
Simulation and measurement of effects such as vehicle movement on aspects such as pointing accuracy, link budget, and so on.
End-to-end testing of satellite communication links including modulated signals.
Plans for antenna test and measurement ranges to include simulated satellite movement, e.g., a constellation of LEO satellites.
