Hear stories of Science and adventure and how Andrew ended up as part of a ransom deal with the secret police in Libya. Andrew started his career as a graduate trainee with the South Wales electricity board but then moved on to the oil industry where he spent three years at sea on world-wide contract doing seismic research; then moved into computer engineering, geophysics & graduate training. He then moved to the Western Isles to work for the council. For the past 12 years has lectured with UHI.

Andrew Mackenzie CEng

Engineering Lecturer - UHI

Andrew started his career as a graduate trainee with the South Wales electricity board but then moved on to the oil industry where he spent three years at sea on world-wide contract doing seismic research; then moved into computer engineering , geophysics and graduate training. He then moved to the Western Isles to work for Comhairle nan Eilean Siar in various positions including heading up the Training Section, Deputy Director of Corporate Services, Head of Strategy and Head of Continuous Improvement.  For the past 12 years he has been a UHI engineering lecturer at the UHI and  holds a degree in electrical and electronics engineering, is a chartered engineer and Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development
