Site visit to the Greenbank Battery Energy Storage System hosted by IET Queensland Local Network
About
Join us for an exclusive site visit to the Greenbank Battery Facility. Located in the Logan City Council area, the Greenbank Battery is CS Energy’s second large-scale battery project, with a discharge capacity of 200 megawatts and storage of 400 megawatt hours. The IET Queensland Local Network has organised this tour to give members a firsthand look at this significant infrastructure.
The facility comprises 108 Tesla Megapack 2XL units and represents a $300 million investment in grid-scale energy storage. Operational since June 2025 and situated on the traditional lands of the Yuggera Ugarapul peoples, the battery can power approximately 66,000 homes for up to two hours during peak evening demand. Each Megapack integrates battery modules, inverters, cooling systems, and advanced safety features, including fire-tested designs and real-time monitoring. As a key part of CS Energy’s growing portfolio, the Greenbank Battery plays an important role in strengthening grid reliability and supporting renewable energy integration.
