About

Skylab was America’s first space station and paved the way for much that followed. The launch of Skylab very nearly ended in complete disaster, but it was rescued by a huge effort across the US and ultimately the flexibility and capability of its astronauts. The mission went on to revolutionise the field of solar astronomy and to make huge strides in our understanding of the effects of spaceflight on human beings and of the capabilities of human astronauts.
