Skynet is the British military communication satellite system providing links to British forces throughout the world. Skynet 1 was launched in 1969 and Skynet 6 is due for launch in 2026.

The University of Surrey campus is on the North side of Cathedral Hill. The main access road turns off from the cathedral roundabout. Park in the main car park, just beyond the private AQA Car Park. Parking is available to campus visitors and unrestricted after 7 pm. The Surrey Business School (Rik Medlik Building) is directly across the road from the car park. Penalty charges are now being applied rigidly up to 7pm.
