State of the engineering profession?

Are we STEMming the flow of wealth creation in South Yorkshire?

About

Studies show that future demand for STEM skills in South Yorkshire will rise faster than the expected supply, and the adoption of new technologies will
require skills that we don’t currently have.

Our debate will focus on the promotion of STEM as an enabler of career pathways, the perceived status of engineers, and the efforts we could make to encourage wider participation in all engineering disciplines.

Who should provide the training of engineers to meet the demands of industry

How can the status of engineers be raised in order to attract wider participation?

What will be the impact of AI technologies on the demand for engineering skills?

This is a joint Professional Engineering Institution event.

This event is taking place in the Peak Lecture Theatre in the Owen Building.
