The talk, entitled Tales of the East Coast, provides an in-depth look at the electrification of the East Coast Main Line, where the  speaker served as Electrification Construction Engineer at Newcastle for the section of line between Northallerton and the Scottish Border.  He later worked as Technical Services Engineer in the Maintenance Organization during its early operation and as maintenance was brought back in-house after privatization.

Peter Hazard

Engineering Manager at RPS Ltd

Peter Hazard has spent most of his working career in railway overhead line electrification. He began his career in 1969 as a mechanical engineer, specializing in precision machine tool manufacturing.  Realizing his desire for a more academic career, he joined the British Rail (BR), Chief Mechanical & Electrical Engineer’s Eastern Region Headquarters in London.
