Technical Visit: Exploring the Shipbuilder to Build China’s Largest Carbon Fiber Passenger Ferry “Xin Ming Zhu III” at Chu Kong Group Shipyard (Nansha, Guangzhou) (aka CKS-Nansha)

About
The IET Hong Kong RTS Committee is delighted to offer a 12-hour/one-day technical visit to the brand-new shipyard of Chu Kong Group Shipyard in Nansha, Guangzhou, China. It is also named Guangdong SINOWAY Composite Materials Co., Ltd., is a leading shipyard in Nansha, Guangzhou, specializing in large-capacity carbon fiber high-speed passenger ferries. This shipyard built China’s largest carbon fiber catamaran, “Xin Ming Zhu III” in 2024 which seats 500 and features lightweight, corrosion-resistant construction for improved efficiency and reduced emissions. SINOWAY’s advanced facilities support green innovation and serve as a benchmark for sustainable shipbuilding in the Greater Bay Area.
Led by Mr. ZENG Yu, Managing Director of Chu Kong Group Shipyard and the management of Guangdong SINOWAY Composite Materials Co., Ltd. , the visit includes an exclusive tour of the carbon fiber lay-up and molding workshops, structural assembly and outfitting zones for marine vessel construction, preventative and routine maintenance practice for marine vessel repair and relevant E&M infrastructure, granting access to restricted engineering zones of onboard CNS (Communication, Navigation and Surveillance) system control center installed on ferry Bridge, etc..
In our final session, from 15:30 to 17:00, get ready for 1.5 hours of pure adventure! Our RTS has arranged free time for you to dive into the vibrant local scene-stroll through bustling city streets, hunt for the freshest seafood and seasonal fruits, and treat yourself to a captivating, self-financed afternoon tea at the renowned grand Nansha Shisiyong (Fourteenth (14th) Waterway) Seafood Market, largest seafood market in town, just steps from Nansha Passenger Port. This market is a paradise for affordable seafood and street-food lovers, brimming with fresh catches straight from local fishermen, colorful fruit stalls, and lively eateries where you can savor your finds on the spot. Don’t miss this chance to soak up the authentic flavors and energy of Nansha before we depart!

Programme
0715-0730 : Gather at and wait for 15 minutes outside the CKS (Chu Kong Group Shipping or Chu Kong Group Shipyard) ferry check-in entrance at China Ferry Terminal, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
0730-0800 : Proceed through the Hong Kong Customs and Departure Hall security check with visitor’s valid documents. Ferry tickets will be distributed to all participants before/after clearing security
0800-0930 : Enjoy a 90-minute comfortable ferry trip (resting/napping encouraged) from China Ferry Terminal to Nansha Passenger Port
0930-1000 : Complete China Customs and Arrival Hall security check with valid documents
1000-1030 : Transfer by coach (rented by RTS) from Nansha Passenger Port to SINOWAY Shipyard (Nansha)
1030-1100 : Reception by CKS Shipyard & SINOWAY management team, including welcome remarks and group photos
1100-1200 : Overview of Chu Kong Group Shipyard (CKS) and its subsidiary SINOWAY: company history, achievements, and strategic focus on carbon fiber vessel technology, local marine maintenance practices.
1200-1330 : Round-trip coach transfers to a nearby restaurant, about 15 minutes away. Enjoy a complimentary networking lunch (included in the registration fee)
1300-1500 : Guided walkthrough of key production areas: carbon fiber lay-up and molding workshops, structural assembly and outfitting zones, E&M and marine maintenance docking area, as well as the onboard CNS system control room within the ferry Bridge
1500-1530 : Take coach from The Shipyard to the renowned and largest local and affordable seafood market named “Nansha Shisiyong (Fourteenth (14th) Waterway) Seafood Market” near Nansha Passenger Port
1530-1700 : Free time of city walking, shopping or tasting at “Nansha Shisiyong (Fourteenth (14th) Waterway) Seafood Market”
1700-1800 : Take a 30-minute coach (rented by RTS) to the Nansha Passenger Port. Enter China Customers and Departure Hall security check with valid documents
1800-1930 : Board the high-speed ferry for a comfortable 90-minute door-to-door return trip to Hong Kong (resting/napping encouraged). Arrive at China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, and dismiss
